First of all, get this update from Microsoft. Download the update based on your version of Windows. This update requires validation and will validate before downloading. This update is applicable for Windows 10 and older versions.
Using Indian Rupee Currency Symbol in Windows 11/10
To use the Rupee symbol, we will need to install English(India) in Windows 11/10. Make sure your account has enough permission to do this; else, you can always ask the admin user to do that for you.
In Windows 11
Open Settings and navigate to Time & Language, and click on Add a Language. It will open another window where you can search for any language. Find and Add English (India).
Once done, you can change the language by pressing Win + Spacebar and then select English(India )as the language. Make sure not to select English(India) (US) else it will not work. Then use Ctrl + Alt + 4, and it will print the Rupee sign on any text area.
Using this keyboard shortcut, you can then type it anywhere and in any application. This includes Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Gmail, or anywhere else. This also works any type of hardware keyboard.
In Windows 10/8/7
To do this, open Control Panel > Language > ‘Add a Language’ and then Group Languages By > Languages Name.
Scroll to English, double-click on English and select English (India) and click on Add button at the bottom.
After this, you’ll notice it is shown in the system tray.
While typing the symbol, select this English (India) / English (India) keyboard. You have to use the same keyboard shortcut shown for Windows 7, i.e., Ctrl+Alt+4. In Windows 10/8, I also noticed a similar behavior for some applications described above for Windows 7.

Using Indian Rupee Currency Symbol in Windows 7
Install this update. The system will require a restart after the install. Once you have installed this, go to Control Panel > Region and Language > Keyboards and languages tab. Click on ‘Change Keyboards…’ and under the ‘General’ tab, click on ‘Add…’ and tick India under English (India ); you can also find this under English (United States) Keyboards.
Once done, you can see it listed under Installed Services. And also, you can see it in the system tray.
