How to fix Blurry Pictures in Photoshop
Photoshop can fix blurry images that are not too far gone. With a lot of experimenting with the different tools and filters in Photoshop, the blurry photo can be corrected. There is no one method to fix all blurry photos. Experimenting with various methods and observing the changes until you get it perfect is the best solution. The process can be easy, very hard, or impossible, depending on how blurry the image is, the file size, and the final print size. There are various ways to fix blurs depending on the cause of the blur and how bad it is.
How to make a blurry picture clear using Photoshop
Open Photoshop then go to File then Open then search for the blurry image; when you have found it, select it, and click Open. The image will automatically be called Background in the Layers panel on the right. The background/image will be locked. The lock will prevent any accidental work on the original image. Hold the background layer (the blurry picture) and drag it down to the New Layers icon at the bottom. The picture will be duplicated. You can also duplicate the picture by right-clicking on the picture, then selecting Duplicate Layer, or click Ctrl + J to duplicate the image. The modifications will be made on the copy layer and not the original layer. This will protect the original layer from any damage. Go to the menu bar at the top of the window and click View then go to Actual Pixels or press Ctrl + 1. You will notice that the image will go to 100%. Examine the image for noise such as random white pixels or JPEG artifacts. Remove as many erroneous pixels as possible before sharpening the image, as sharpening can emphasize image noise.
From the top menu go to Filter then Noise and Reduce Noise.
If the image is blocky or pixelated from saving it as a low-quality JPEG, select Remove JPEG Artifacts. Adjust the Strength, Preserve Details, Reduce Color Noise and Sharpen Details.
Click on Advanced to apply the Reduce Noise Filter to specific color channels. Make sure that Preview is selected so that you can observe the changes on the image as you make them. You will have to observe the changes in the image so that you can know which changes work. Remember there is no ready-made formula to fix the blur so you will have to experiment until it is satisfactorily fixed. When you are satisfied with the result press OK. Go to View then Print Size or Zoom Out to view more of the image on the screen. This will allow you to see the full view of the image to see if any other things may need fixing before you move on. Go to Layer and Duplicate Layer or press Ctrl + J, or drag the layer on the New Layer icon at the bottom of the layers panel. This will make a copy of the layer with reduced noise. Call that new layer High Pass. Click the Blending Mode drop-down menu at the top of the Layer panel and change the layer that you named High Pass from Normal to Overlay.
Go to Filter and then Other, then select High Pass. Adjust the Radius using the slider or click in the value area and use the Up or Down arrow keys to adjust the value. A higher radius value causes more sharpening. Note the effects of the filter on your image in the document window. When you are satisfied with the outcome, click OK to apply the filter. You can lower the Opacity if you wish to fade the sharpening effect. Click on the layer under the High Pass Layer. Go to Filter then Sharpen, then choose Unsharp Mask. Applying the Unsharp Mask filter enhances the details of the image. Adjust the values to fit your image. A high-resolution image requires higher values for Amount and pixel Radius. Click OK to apply the Unsharp Mask. Note that this is just one of the methods that can be used to fix blurry images, one method will not work for all blurry images. What may cause Blurry Images?
Blurry images may be the result of the moving of the subject during the photographing. Blurring may be caused by the movement of the camera or photographer during photographing, blurring may be the result of using a camera with a slow shutter speed to take a subject that Is moving. Blurring may also occur when you use a scanner that is not calibrated properly or has low resolution. Blurring may occur when you stretch an image too much and the resolution is too low to accommodate the enlargement.
Can all Blurry Images be corrected?
Some blurry images are too blurry to be corrected to look as perfect as desired. Whenever you are taking a picture, make sure to have the right equipment for the photo. If it is a picture of a pet or someone or something that will be likely to move, use a camera with a fast shutter. If this is not available, try to use sport mode on the device if possible.
