How to create Jigsaw Puzzle from Picture in PowerPoint
Follow the steps below to make a Jigsaw puzzle from a Picture in PowerPoint:
1] Create the Jigsaw puzzle piece
Launch PowerPoint. Change the side layout to blank.
Click Shapes on the Home tab and select the rectangle shape from the menu and draw it on the slide. Then go back to the Shape menu and select a circle.
Draw the circle at the bottom of the square. Now we want to align both the square and the circle. Hold the shift key down to select both the square and the circle.
Then click the Arrange button, hover the cursor over Align and select Align Center from the menu. Then duplicate the circle by pressing the key Ctrl D and place the duplicated circle on the right of the square. Now hold the Shift key down and select both the square and the circle on the right of the square.
Then, click the Shape Format tab and click the Merge Shapes button in the Insert Shapes group, and select Union from the menu. The circle is merged with the square. Then hold the Shift key down and select both the square and the circle on the bottom of the square.
Then click the Shape Format tab and click the Merge Shapes button in the Insert Shapes group and select Subtract from the menu. The circle is cut from the square.
3] Align the puzzle pieces together
Duplicate the shape into four by clicking the shape and pressing CTRL D. Now we are going to put the pieces together.
4] Insert the Picture
On the Insert tab, click the picture button and select a picture from any of the following File, Stock Images or Online Pictures.
5] Resize the picture
We want to turn the picture into a square. Click the picture, then click the Picture Format tab.
Click the Crop button, hover the cursor over Adjust aspect, and select Square 1:1 from the menu. Now place the picture over the plain jigsaw to see if it’s the same size as the jigsaw. Ensure that the jigsaw and the picture are the same sizes, if not crop the picture or try to resize the picture.
5] Merge the picture with the puzzle
Press Ctrl D to copy the picture. Then right-click one of the Jigsaw puzzles and select Bring to front from the context menu. Place it over the picture. Then use the Shift key to select both the picture and the jigsaw puzzle. Select the picture first before the jigsaw puzzle. Then go to the Shape Format tab.
Click the Merge Shapes button and select Intersect. Insert a new slide and place the picture jigsaw on it. Copy the picture again and follow the same procedure until you created the picture jigsaw. Every time you create a merged picture with the Jigsaw, place it on the new slide and put the pieces together. Now we want it to look exactly like a jigsaw puzzle.
Click the complete jigsaw you have a place on the second slide and then click the Picture Format tab. In the Picture styles group, click the Picture Border button and select a color. Then click the Picture Border button, hover the cursor over the Width, and select 3 pt. You will notice that the outline of the shape will become the color and width of the shape. Do the same for the other shapes.
