Disable recording in Teams for Specific meeting, Specific user or Entire organization

Follow any of these methods, depending on your choice, to disable the recording in Microsoft Teams Meeting. Each method has its advantage; use whatever works best for you.

1] Using Teams Admin Center

You can access the Teams Admin Center to change Meeting policies as a Teams admin. Login to Teams admin center. Go to Meetings > Meeting policies. Here you can select the policy which you assigned. In Recording& transcription part, you could turn on/off the cloud recording.

Click on  Add button under Manage policies.Select Global or a specific userSet the value as No to disable the meeting.

A per-meeting option is not available. It’s best to disable the automatic recording per meeting, but the owner (or attendee with sufficient permissions) can change it manually. To prevent this, the owner should limit the roles of invited users, so he is the only one who can toggle recording on/off.

2] Using PowerShell

Many IT admins like to use PowerShell commandlets to configure the policies. It not only offers more flexibility but is more powerful. According to Microsoft documentation, you can configure the AllowCloudRecording setting in TeamsMeetingPolicy. More on this here on microsoft.com.

Are all Teams meetings recorded automatically?

No, unless it is configured such from the Microsoft Teams Policies. Usually, the group’s owner in Teams will need to turn on during the meeting or configure it to start with the meeting automatically.

How do you stop auto-recording in Teams?

You can disable the option to record automatically in the Meetings option to stop auto-recording in Microsoft teams. It would be best if you changed it on a per-meeting basis.
